meme: Name three fics you think I will never, ever, ever write. In return (and if inspired), I will attempt to write a snippet of one of them.

do your worst! :D

seriously, do your worst? =D

I could cheat and say pr0n, Mary Sue/character pairingfic, and sappy sunshine-and-butterflies-filled fic sans foreshadowings of angst and doom, but I won't. ^_^

1. Mushishi a la Die Hard
2. (to take a leaf from your book) Death Note: The Romantic Comedy! (any pairing)
3. Ouran High School slasher-flick (slasher as in Halloween, Friday the 13th etc)

ahaha, pr0n is the one thing i would never write. i could probably attempt sappy sunshine-and-butterflies-filled fic, but.

1. i... have never watched Die Hard. do you mean vigilante cop ginko, or something?
2. romantic comedy = genre i am hopeless at! no promises here, though it is tempting.
3. ahahahaha. i may try, for one of the later [livejournal.com profile] 31_days themes...

1. Just straight action/adventure, with explosions and stuff. ^^

Heh, i'm just combining unlikely things to toss out and see what sticks, no worries. ^_^

1. Uto-Loki/Spica/Yamino pr0n without plot
2. Mushishi high-school AU
3. Death Note Mary Sue (which is probably to be found in great profusion on ffnet)

1. i could not write pr0n if you paid me, and i say that despite usually being receptive to monetary incentives. ^_^;;
2. will do! why would i never ever write this? o_o
3. eheh. theoretically i could write this, i guess, but i am lazy. you see, the mary sue would have to be some sort of all-powerful female shinigami, who for whatever reason looks like an attractive teenage girl rather than a burtonesque monster. she would have fluffy white feathered wings and some sort of Deeply Profound and uncreative japanese name, like Urami or Kiseki or whatever. Light would fall deeply and passionately in love with her, and would either 1) kill everyone on earth so they could be together for ever and ever lolz or 2) see The Error Of His Ways and be Reformed, because said mary sue is a shinigami with a deep Compassion For All Mankind.

...yeah, that's all i've got.

3...that is probably (except for the shinigami bit) the plot of 90% of the non-Light/L fic on ffnet, I fear. Usually the names aren't even actually Japanese XD

I briefly considered this meme, but concluded that there would be no takers since most of you probably think there is nothing I wouldn't write XD

3. aw, you think so little of DN fandom! maybe the percentage is closer to 30? ^_^;;

haha. the thing is, you might be right. but i'd still challenge you to write an un-self-conciously sappy, wholly unironic, not-even-possessed-of-wry-humour happy fluffy pairingfic. i'm not sure anyone on my flist would write one, come to that.

Oh dear, the Muu-chan/Sugino (http://feliciter.livejournal.com/19590.html#cutid2) fluff doesn't count? It is fairly sappy and straightforward (by my standards, anyway; can't expect purses from piggies etc), and completely *not* meant to evoke any other reaction other than "awwww" or "ewwwww" depending on your taste, but still! pairingfic ^_^

oh, right! okay then, it looks like there really is nothing i can suggest. :D;;

i suspect that this was not what you meant by high-school AU, but. :x

Don't get him wrong -- Adashino wants to be a doctor. He's not one of those kids doomed, by well-intentioned parents, to a joyless slog through medical school. But even then, he still has a certain envy of those without carefully-planned futures. Adashino has just entered high school, but he already knows the exams that he will have to take, the timeline that ends where a life-long career begins. Ginko, on the other hand -- Ginko strolls through life with the comfortable self-assurance of one who doesn't know where he's going, and doesn't mind not knowing.

There is another thing, too, which would be embarrassing if not for how Adashino has had years to get used to the polite laughter that invariably meets his confession: ever since he was a small child, watching cyberpunk and science fiction movies to pass the rainy summer holidays, Adashino has wanted to be a hacker.

---

Ginko stops by at Adashino's school several hours after lessons have ended. He hands over a mini-disc by way of greeting.

"Is this--"

"The Watahaki trojan, yes." Ginko grins at Adashino's undisguised glee; if it were anyone else, Adashino would have considered it patronising. As it is, he thanks Ginko and slips the disc into his bag, and they begin the long walk towards the town centre.

"Dinner?" Adashino says after a while, but only to be polite. Dinner is part of the bargain, after all.

"There's a new place near the supermarket," Ginko says. "Was in the area the other day, on a job."

Adashino's parents are proud of his wish to be a doctor, though they don't push him. Just don't end up like one of those freeters, his mother says, and Adashino smiles: Of course I won't. But at times like this, when he's listening to the epic saga of how Ginko has been cleaning up office networks afflicted by the latest e-mail worm -- Adashino thinks there's something to be said for freedom, even freedom that is not of one's own choosing.

( ...see, the backstory for this epic high-school AU, right, is that ginko is some sort of child hacker prodigy who has to keep transferring from one school to another, for reasons i am too lazy to think up. perhaps: whenever the school networks are afflicted by something, he tries to help and succeeds too well, hence bringing suspicion down upon him. whatever. anyway, it also features tanyuu as ginko's old friend and comrade-in-arms hacker, who had to stay behind in the first elementary school that he was in, because it is a prestigious elementary school that leads on to a prestigious middle school and a prestigious high school and so on, and tanyuu's family wants her to become some well-paid computer engineer.

yep. )

ahahaha I stand corrected :p

This is perfect (and perfectly IC, right down to the name of the trojan and the e-mail worm) and exactly the sort of AU I had in mind!
the kind of high-school-AU I have *seen*, which would certainly not be associated with you, is the type with Americanisms and boy-girl/boy-boy/girl-girl soft-pR0n infesting innumerable fandoms on the Pit of Voles

(and ginko smokes pot cigarettes to release his inner eye, or something.)

ahaha, i am glad that it works? if such an AU can be said to work...

( when he has trouble cracking a particular string of code, then he resorts to the cigarettes, yes. >_>;; )
