i held off on doing this for ages because of silly reasons to do with accuracy and completism. but i suppose calling it a 'masterlist of posted fic', rather than simply a 'fic masterlist', resolves the main issues. still difficult to resist the urge to list and link every single fic meme fill, though. -_-;;

Dear [livejournal.com profile] yuletide writer,

If you offered any of these fandoms, you are already amazing -- thank you very much for doing so!

As always: optional details are optional, and this letter even more so.

But if you would like more details, here goes. )

i received a matoba fic for [livejournal.com profile] yuletide, and it is amazing. it's basically all the matoba backstory i'll need until canon itself chooses to reveal more, if it ever does. *_* read it!

Mirror's Depth

oh, and, yes -- merry christmas. ^_^;;

---

edit: i keep rereading that fic, ahhhh. ♥ many people in natsume fandom seem to really dislike matoba, but i find him intriguing, and augh, now i want more fic that treats him as more than a villain. ;_; also, worldbuilding! since the most recent manga volumes i've become really interested in exorcist politics/the nature of being an exorcist... but i guess i can't fault the fandom for concentrating more on natsume's personal journey and so on.

Dear [livejournal.com profile] yuletide writer,

By offering to write for any of these fandoms, you are already awesome. Thanks so much for doing so!

Just remember: optional details are optional, and this letter even more so.

But here's a bit of elaboration, if you'd like it. )

i just received the most heartbreaking and amazing twins-centric Kimi to Boku fic for [livejournal.com profile] yuletide, and. ahhhhhhh. so many emotions!

yuuki was my favourite character at first, but yuuta took that place after several manga volumes of development, and this fic basically elaborates upon every heartbreaking yuuta moment in canon. the twins' relationship is one of my favourite parts of the series, and i love how this fic takes it to one logical conclusion.

i could go on for ages, but sadly, none of you is into Kimi to Boku. ._. but here is the fic, all the same:

not where it starts, but where it ends

edit: not just that, someone wrote University of Cambridge anthropomorfic. SCREAMS.

Elaboration, if you'd like it. )

both of my urasawa requests this year were fulfilled, eheh. my main gift was 21st Century Girls, a fic set in the 20th Century Boys universe and starring an original - female! - cast. i'm still boggling at the thought that went into this fic: all the details!

a kind person also wrote me a Yuletide treat: There will be an answer, a Pluto fic focusing on North #2. i've discovered that i really like fic that deals with the cognitive processes of robots - there's another Pluto fic that does that, too - and North #2's story was really compelling in canon, so yay.

vague rambling about my yuletide works this year )

next year i am tempted to request Van Gogh fic if the Artists RPF category still exists. also, i really really want fic with philosophers in. epistolary fic, most probably, but maybe also something about Leibniz's massive intellectual crush on/one-sided rivalry with Locke.

Dear [livejournal.com profile] yuletide author,

By offering to write for one of these fandoms, you are already awesome, and I am already grateful. Thanks very much for doing so. :D

I don't want to make this a stressful experience for you, so just remember - you're only constrained by the fandoms and characters I've listed. You don't have to pay attention to the request details*, let alone this letter.

That having been said -- )

Many thanks again!

*Okay, I lie. I do care strongly about the Academic Institutions (Anthropomorfic) request. But the manga requests are fair game.

i was a pinch-hit this year, but received two lovely (and quite different) fics:

Photo Real, which is a gorgeous Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex fic. it's perhaps a little closer in tone to the movies than to the anime, the interaction between batou and the major a little less easy-going, but i love that. what actually goes on in the fic could be summed up very simply, but the execution is precise and effective.

Snowmen with Scarves, which is Kimi to Boku fic! ahhhh ♥ it's sweet, silly, and very true-to-canon; i found myself picturing corresponding manga panels as i read it. being the yuuki&yuuta fan i am, i especially enjoyed their appearances in this fic - but all the others are perfectly in character, too.

Dear [livejournal.com profile] yuletide author,

Two main things:

1. By offering to write for any of these fandoms, you are already awesome. Thanks so much for doing so! Fic for any of these fandoms would make me really happy, so no pressure.

2. Remember that you are only constrained by the fandom and characters in my request. You can ignore my request details; you can certainly ignore this letter.

That having been said: )

Again, many thanks, and I hope my requests haven't caused you too much grief!

:D :D :D

In an internet cafe in Aleppo now -- Syria blocks Facebook but neither Blogger nor Livejournal, apparently. Am only here to say that I had an amazing Yuletide, receiving two brilliant, brilliant pieces of fic:

and if they are not dead, which is everything I could have ever wanted in a post-series Monster fic. I think I can finally remove Monster from my Yuletide requests list, now, because this fic has fulfilled my craving for a good coda to the series. It's a breathtaking piece of writing, and I am madly in love with it, and plan to reread it at length once I have the time (which probably means... February).

The Persistence of Perspective. Natsume Yuujinchou fic. Lovely, gentle, insightful, amusing Natsume Yuujinchou fic, which made me smile and broke my heart and is basically incredibly squeeworthy. I am not worthy, [livejournal.com profile] v_voltaire, but thank you so, so much for this. ;_;

I still haven't read any other Yuletide fics but these, though I did note that there are other Monster and Natsume Yuujinchou ones out there..! Exciting times.

Dear [livejournal.com profile] yuletide author,

I think you have excellent taste in fandoms. :D )

edit: forgot to add -- I'll be away and hence lacking internet access until January 12 or 13, so it may be a while before I read your story. I'll try my best to get online in late December so I can read and comment, but if I don't manage to do so, I'm very very sorry! I know it's probably bad form to sign up for Yuletide when you won't be around until ages after the reveal; please forgive me. ._.

i received a really awesome Bartimaeus trilogy* fic for [livejournal.com profile] yuletide! it's first-person-POV and pitch-perfect -- Bartimaeus's narration was the main reason I liked the books, i won't lie -- and works so well and oh, Bartimaeus-Ptolemy interaction, be still my heart. :D :D :D

[livejournal.com profile] feliciter also wrote me awesome epistolary Mushishi fic. *_*

*the Bartimaeus trilogy is a YA fantasy series; possibly the first i have read since secondary school, picked it up after prompting from a friend. it isn't high literature by any measure, but it does have one of the best/most entertaining narrators (who is also an unreliable one, yay) since Kyon. also, alternate history 'verse with magic in!

edit: now with aforementioned epistolary fic by [livejournal.com profile] feliciter!

my [livejournal.com profile] yuletide santa is absolutely awesome, and not just because she is a Jiraishin fan. *_*

my flist is also awesome! but because i am nervous about being presumptuous and linking their fics, especially the fics of those i do not know all that well, um. i shall content myself with the knowledge that i reviewed some of their pieces, and end this part of the post before my social neuroses render me incapable of ever posting to this lj again.

project for the year: complete a list of twenty-six fics in twenty-six different fandoms, with one title for each letter of the alphabet, and pretentious prompts to work from. not giving myself a minimum word count, because i am lazy. starting the year with nine fics already written for fandoms which i do not wish to attempt again, indicated by the bolded numerals.

fandoms i have known, if only briefly )

and the sad thing is, i've already compiled the prompts (quite a few are lines from Joseph Brodsky!) and come up with titles + fandoms for each. ahahaha um. also, i am cheating by counting weiss kreuz/weiss kreuz glühen/weiss side b as three separate fandoms. i miss writing wk fic, okay? >_.

edit, 31 Dec 2007: well, didn't quite get there, but the only missing fandoms are MaLoki and Mushishi, so. eventually (before the spring break, say) this will be a list of twenty-seven fics in twenty-seven different anime/manga fandoms, with only six written-before-2007 fics. >_.

edit, 7 Aug 2008: ahaha, well. i hope to finish the MaLoki fic by, er, this year. as for Mushishi, i'm waiting for the final volume to be released, which may not be until 2009. so there you go.
