The kitty looks familiar, where is it from?

a bit presumptuous of me, but may I steal the icon? will credit

[identity profile] ambientlight.livejournal.com 2006-08-20 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
the kitty is from cafe kichijouji de, which is a fluffy, random, utterly insane manga/radio drama series that never fails to make me grin. like ouran koukou host club, except with even less of a plot.

[identity profile] feliciter.livejournal.com 2006-08-20 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
Ah thanks ^_^

(thought the eyes looked familiar - have only just found out from Google that said cat is Sukekiyo (sp?), though the workings of Cafe Kichijouji and its resident bishounen must remain a dark mystery)

sukekiyo, yep. would you like me to upload scanlations of the first volume, or something? there's also a taiwanese ( iirc, anyway -- prolly tongli ) version on the market. though it is a very silly, angst-free series, so i'm not sure that it'd appeal to you very much. ^_^;;

[identity profile] feliciter.livejournal.com 2006-08-20 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
That would be very nice indeed, thank you ^_^

angst-free silliness is good, sometimes :D

always glad to corrupt more people! turns out i have scanslations of the first two volumes, so here you go:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/3yq86b

the third ( and last, alas ) volume is my favourite, though. sukekiyo gets a little more page-time, too. ^_^

[identity profile] feliciter.livejournal.com 2006-08-20 08:42 am (UTC)(link)
THANKYOUTHANKYOU for uploading the scanlations! *______*

I read the first chapter (the interview)- loved the set-up, the crack, and very inspired of the scanlators to have Minagawa's dialogue in Celtic font.

Shall savour the rest at leisure ^_^

[identity profile] ambientlight.livejournal.com 2006-08-20 12:34 pm (UTC)(link)
you're very very welcome! ( to be fair, minagawa's dialogue was originally in a stylish, curly japanese font anyway. :D )

am glad that you're enjoying it? ^_^

[identity profile] feliciter.livejournal.com 2006-08-20 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
(wonder if there's a specific japanese writing style associated with things occult, like the supernatural is associated with the Irish/Eastern European traditions?)

I enjoyed both volumes (land of crack and sakura indeed! especially the chibi side-stories) immensely, thank you again ^_^

And I would so buy a sukekiyo plushie, if there were indeed such an entity XD

[identity profile] ambientlight.livejournal.com 2006-08-20 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
( maybe a flatter style that's reminiscent of the earlier forms of writing? like on the fuda in yami no matsuei, iirc. or something. )

no problem. :D in the original japanese volumes ( as well as the chinese translations ) the dialogue in the chibi side-stories is bilingual, with the engrish bits contributing to the absurdity. minagawa's last line in the summer one, for example, is the far more cryptic: "it is how to have a mind."

given that there's a punyan plushie, i'm surprised at the lack of a sukekiyo one. they do have a terrifying sukekiyo oven mitt, though: http://www.animate.co.jp/animate/goods2.asp?wid=000000000030&pg=5

*rimshot*

:D

i... i blame my classmates' math syllabus.

geekery + cafe k = two worlds that shouldn't collide, do. :)

[identity profile] ambientlight.livejournal.com 2006-08-20 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
man, now i want to illustrate a physics textbook with panels of tarou hurling objects at maki.

[identity profile] erushi.livejournal.com 2006-08-20 09:35 am (UTC)(link)
sukekiyo! *steals*

[identity profile] ambientlight.livejournal.com 2006-08-20 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
sukekiyo indeed! if i am unable to procure a punyan, a sukekiyo plushie would be a nice substitute.

That is such an AWESOME avatar! (I have a huge soft spot for cats) itadakimasu.

Also while I'm here, have you seen the pics of the live-action Mushishi movie that was screened (or will be screened soon?) at the Venice Biennale? Joe Odagiri as Ginko really does look... funny ^_^;;;; But they totally nailed Nui, IMO! I suppose you've seen them, but here's a link anyway: http://www.cinempire.com/multimedia/mushishi/index.html

pwned by html. >_.

[identity profile] ambientlight.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 12:02 pm (UTC)(link)
sukekiyo is possibly the best anime/manga cat ever, with the exception of okaka-baba. :D

thanks so much for the link! hadn't seen the pics before, and am much intrigued -- i suppose they're going for a vaguely episodic feel, if rainbow-chasing guy is in the movie. o_o joe odagiri looks rather odd, yes ( i'm not sure if the unshaven look helps him ) but nui is cool, even if her hair looks inescapably like a wig. also, tanyuu! whee. thankyouthankyou~

no prob. Heyyy, you've watched Zettai Shounen! Then again I suppose it's not unlikely for you to watch that. I really liked the cat in Ayakashi. Although it turned out to be evil and demonic.

Before I disappear, can't forget... good luck for the prelims!

[identity profile] ambientlight.livejournal.com 2006-08-25 09:43 am (UTC)(link)
the cat in ayakashi was amazingly cute, yes! but not as cool, IMO. :D;;

thanks! all the best for your promos, too.
