ambientlight: (we could have something here)

well, why not.

because this journal used to be a fandom-centric one, once. a handful of old memes, if anyone's interested. stolen from [livejournal.com profile] xsmoonshine.

1) DVD commentary meme: Point at a story, and I will babble about it.

2) Write me anything from a sentence to a drabble (or more if you desire), any fandom you want and think I know. Identify fandom and characters if it's not clear from what you wrote. I will respond in some fashion -- fic, art, bad poetry, a mini FST, etc.

3) Make up a title for a fic I've never written and I'll give you a blurb, excerpt, illustration or whatever else strikes my fancy.

1) You, The Living (would make a great silent film, IMHO)

2) "Eternity was in our lips and eyes, bliss in our brows' bent". (Shakespeare's Antony and Cleopatra, any fandom)

3) sphinxes without secrets

Hee, this is the longest story I've seen you write.

2) Nyanko would protest that he wasn't a cat with nine lives, or even a real cat at all, for that matter, but really, what other option was there?

3) All the white horses

[identity profile] ambientlight.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
2) "It's not that far down."

The patience in Natsume's voice had taken on a talking-to-frightened-animals flavour. Nyanko's fur bristled. "You wouldn't know," he replied, raising his head haughtily (it helped not to look down) and digging his claws a little deeper into the branch.

"Don't cats always land on their feet, anyway? Come on, Nyanko. I promise I'll catch you. Besides, you're meant to have nine lives--"

Nyanko would later maintain that he had hurled himself out of the tree and at Natsume for the express reason of shutting him up, and it was a very graceful landing, thank you very much, and he had barely let his claws out at all.

"Ow," Natsume replied. And, a bit later, "You need to lose weight."

But he let Nyanko stay half-curled in his arms all the way back home, and since Nyanko wasn't even a real cat, there was nothing demeaning or pet-like about it at all. Obviously not.

---

and yes, i know cats don't always land on their feet, but.

(also, i do realise that this problem, like many others, is easily solved if madara just takes his original form. but canon happily ignores that from time to time, so i feel justified in doing the same. >_>;; )

Hee! It is always good when your plot holes are supported by canon! But seriously, that was terribly cute and made me grin, thank you!

eheh, you're very welcome! that little exercise has strengthened my resolve not to write for that series, though. it is too sweet. ;_;

2) that is not how this meme works! :\

but still:

The gods do not have to believe in eternity any more than mortals do in gravity. Loki has to learn the shape of its absence: Jormungandr sheds skin after skin, Fenrir's limbs lose their puppyish lack of definition. But there are diversions enough here, and Midgard's apples too are sweet, and there isn't that much, he thinks, that relies on the promise of ‘forever’.

Memory becomes a substitute even for regret. He could not lead her out of the underworld, all those Midgard-months ago. All that means is that he can look back, now; there is nothing left to lose.

I love these vignettes of an after(Ragnarok)life, the way you capture the flee(t)ing sense of time and memory and change through Loki's eyes.

thanks! i'm glad you liked it, though i'm also sorry that these fic scraps always wallow in angst.

from the wild west AU which i never wrote:

Squee!!! (but why is Spica so grumpy?)

[identity profile] ambientlight.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
it is her no-nonsense :| face. she is On A Mission to find loki! or something.

3) sphinxes without secrets -- an Edwardian AU which starts out pointlessly fluffy -- Loki exchanging witty repartee with various ladies -- but then descends into dark political machinations and a power struggle which may or may not involve questions of Empire, in which Loki must go up against his once-friend Odin and the Norn sisters, with only his faithful manservant Yamino and young suffragette Mayura (Loki is often bored of high society and thus interacts with the hoi polloi as well) by his side. at some point, there is a trip to Egypt and an encounter with both Loki's old flame and his mysterious doppelgänger.

young suffragette Mayura (Loki is often bored of high society and thus interacts with the hoi polloi as well)

ahaha *thumbs up* I can completely see that working. Spica and Uto-loki in Egypt as resurrected!mummies? (where are Heimdall and Freyr, though?)

*fangirls madly*

[identity profile] ambientlight.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
i did not have that in mind at all, but now that you mention it... heimdall is a british official working in egypt, and nominally one of odin's allies; freyr is the annoying french ambassador he must entertain.

you are very kind. :D;;

lol. Koutarou's hands look a little like he's trying to meditate.

it is a coping mechanism for dealing with loki.
