in the absence of fandomspam, a meme.

the fandom meme that made the rounds some time ago:

your task, dear reader, should you choose to accept it, is to guess from these brief summaries which ten fandoms i am referring to. for the purposes of this meme, 'fandom' is taken to mean 'series for which [livejournal.com profile] ambientlight has written fic, even if only a few lines thereof'. correct guesses win, er, a line of fic from that fandom! i don't know, man, my exams are almost over and i feel braindead and i need to get back into fic-writing mode before christmas arrives. help me out, eh?

1. Having a dream is nice, but having shiny powerz helps too. (naruto, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] erushi)
2. Random oneshot episodes, fluff fluff fluff angst -- whoa, sudden appearance of plot! The End. (maloki, [livejournal.com profile] feliciter)
3. Life's a bitch, and then other people die.
4. All you need is style, yo. (samurai champloo, [livejournal.com profile] erushi)
5. Death is no cure for woe and pain. (yami no matsuei, [livejournal.com profile] feliciter)
6. Psychopathic serial killers just want to be loved.
7. Mm, scenery. (mushishi, [livejournal.com profile] feliciter)
8. Why bother with historical accuracy when you can have crack and angst? (peacemaker kurogane, [livejournal.com profile] feliciter)
9. Never trust the overachieving sort.
10. Because giving teenagers great power is such a logical thing to do.

bonus summary, with two possible answers ( one of which is listed above ) --
0. Buildings fall, no one dies? (weiss kreuz and weiss kreuz glühen, [livejournal.com profile] ruebert)

#10 reminded me of animorphs just after i finished writing it, too, but that's not the answer, sorry. ( curiously enough, i don't think i ever wrote any animorphs fanfic, despite that being my first fandom. ) and yes, it applies to far too many fandoms! thus my rather limited definition of fandom above. ^_^;;

i've never written for yakitate!! or fma, so nope. there -is- a naruto somewhere, though.

you do not fail! no one needs to fail. :D

#1 naruto
#4 samurai champloo

[identity profile] ambientlight.livejournal.com 2006-11-26 12:44 pm (UTC)(link)
yes! any character/pairing preferences, or shall i just write random lines?

[identity profile] erushi.livejournal.com 2006-11-26 12:45 pm (UTC)(link)
yay! random lines would be perfectly fine. ^_^

[identity profile] ambientlight.livejournal.com 2006-11-26 12:58 pm (UTC)(link)
:D!

naruto
It is useless to speculate about what Kabuto could have been, had the circumstances been different, for in the end all it comes down to is this: that he knows what he wants, and (unlike Naruto, and Sakura, and perhaps even Sasuke) he knows how he may get it.

samurai champloo
In swordfighting it is hard to divorce efficacy from style; which is not to say that Jin condones pointless flourishes, of course not (because style without efficacy is never enough to prevent you from getting killed, anyway) -- just that yes, all right, he does admit that even the most brutal, unrefined techniques have a rough and beautiful poetry of their own.

[identity profile] erushi.livejournal.com 2006-11-26 01:06 pm (UTC)(link)
thou art too kind! too kind, i say. too kind! *happy tears*

the naruto one did make me go *_* a bit, i must admit. one can't help it if one's mind happened to drift into the gutter. ^^;; and yay for jin! one line of samurai champloo with both pretty writing and wry humour. -your- writing is like beautiful poetry on its own. :D

speaking of poetry, did you ever hear of the haiku on one of the lecture tables?

this is a haiku.
this is really a haiku.
god, this haiku sucks.

erm, yes. i'm feeling a bit determined to guess the others, but i'm really at a loss. can't say i'm having much success in trying to recall series with serial killers. ^^;;

(btw, you couldn't have written sailor moon fic, could you? i sincerely hope not. but #10...)

good luck for econs s tomorrow!

pwned by shifty-eyed faces! and html.

you are too kind yourself, erushi. ^_^

alas, the life of one who is surrounded by those with minds in the gutter! :p but no worries. you flatter me, yo.

eheh, yes, i read ms lye's blog too. >_> <_< who wrote the haiku, do you know?

eheh, yes, serial killers aren't that common in anime, surprisingly. i think you are capable of guessing the others, though! if not for my clumsy and unhelpful clues. ^_^v

( dalsdja;sda ahaha no, have never written sailor moon fic. never actually watched more than a few eps of the series, actually, back in the days of saturday morning cartoons... )

thankyou! good luck for bio s. :D and for lit s, eventually.

who wrote the haiku, do you know?

nope, i'm afraid not. we could try asking if we see them around?

i shall ponder more about the remaining few, then. *gnaws lip* if the cambridge markers see stuff like serial killers in my bio s essay tomorrow, know that it was all done for the good of this meme. ^_~

[identity profile] ambientlight.livejournal.com 2006-11-26 01:21 pm (UTC)(link)
we could try asking if we see them around?
good idea. i shall keep that in mind tomorrow!

i imagine that the cambridge markers would be pleased to have their task enlivened by such references. ~_^ jiayou, then!

[identity profile] ambientlight.livejournal.com 2006-11-26 01:15 pm (UTC)(link)
oh man i just realised how stock-phrase-ish i have become. using "eheh, yes" twice in quick succession! pardon me, please.

[identity profile] erushi.livejournal.com 2006-11-26 01:17 pm (UTC)(link)
thou art pardoned, yo!
