seeing how i have been more inclined, lately, to read lots of E E Cummings rather than think of things to post in lj, a meme: comment with anything, anything at all ( even just an icon, if you'd like ) and, er, something will happen. also, a free mp3 for anyone who does. but don't feel obliged to, or anything.

my history syllabus as applied to real life? well, we're currently learning how hitler and mussolini subverted the legal system to move from democracy to dictatorship. does that count for anything? but of course parallels in history are always dangerous, by inaccuracy or inapplicability or both.
studying the UN, on the other hand, reveals that minorities, despite all the idealistic aims of existing systems, do eventually lose out unless they become a faceless majority.
the aventine secession in european history shows how boycotting an attempt at co-operation tends to backfire. ( see also various other incidents of opposition parties walking out of parliament, examples of which i should be able to quote but am somehow unable to recall, dundundunDUN. ) the frequent use of the veto in the UN shows how the idea of equal power-sharing recalls that animal farm commandment more than anything else.

actually, monster is one of the few anime series i can think of in which food often appears. yakitate!!japan is far more reliable ( and far less of a pain to watch ), of course, but still. and the maloki manga does feature food rather more than one might expect -- corokke and okonomiyaki and taiyaki, etc.
speaking of which, the Best Taiyaki In Singapore is back at Isetan Lido ( or was a few days ago, anyway ) so if you're in the area you might want to check that out.

this is not an actual post-with-content, just so you know. i haven't the attention span for one of those, i'm afraid. in other words, the above two bits aren't meant to be proper responses to that however-long-ago poll. :\
