Mm, I definitely know what you mean about 'greener pastures'; some of my peers are either eager to leave or reluctant to return, if they're studying overseas. I think there can be merit in that idea, especially if you're, say, an artist who feels stifled, or if you're gay and the persecution is too much to bear. But for the average comfortably-well-off middle-class Singaporean who doesn't face those problems, I feel as if leaving Singapore may help yourself, but it doesn't help the country. Then again, the whole 'country before self' concept is not some ultimate truth, so I certainly wouldn't go down the route of the quitters/stayers dichotomy. ^_^;;
